Dear Parents / Students

I wish to draw your attention to the following important matters:

GRADINGS

The gradings for the rest of the year is scheduled to be as follows:

  • June 14 Dan Grading / Check Alchemy
  • 17 - 18 Grading Gub belts Nelspruit
  • September 22 - 23 Grading Gub belts Nelspruit
  • November 24 - 25 Grading Gub belts Nelspruit
    29 Dan Grading / check Nelspruit

All Dan members must inform me on or before, Thursday, 5 June 2008, regarding attendance, transport, etc.

ASSOSIATION TRAINING CAMP

The Annual Association Training Camp is scheduled for the weekend of 27 – 29 September 2008 at Uitkyk, Parys. For all the new students: the camp is open to all. Further information will be circulated as soon as it is received.

TOURNAMENTS

The following tournaments have been set for the remainder of 2008:

  • Training Tournament Nelspruit 7 June
  • SA Championships Wits 23 August
  • Free State Bloemfontein 11 October
  • Lowveld Junior Nelspruit 29 November

Please complete the attached entry form for the tournament on Saturday, 7 June 2008 and submit it to the Dojang with the necessary payment on or before Tuesday, 3 June 2008. The cost for the tournament will be R50.00 per student.

I would like to urge students and parents to ensure that all students participate in this Training Tournament since this tournament is aimed mainly to have students gain the necessary experience of participation amongst other fellow-students before embarking on the next major tournament that will be the SA Championships in Johannesburg.

It can also be mentioned that an international tour is being organized for December 2009 in Malaysia where a SA National – and President’s Team will participate.

The National Squad will be chosen at the Wits tournament, with the final selection at next year’s South African Championships. It is compulsory for any student who is interested to be considered for the National and / or President’s Team, to attend ALL tournaments.

CHANGE OF SOME COMPETITION-REGULATIONS

In the past, competition-regulations provided for teams to consist of 4 men and 1 woman for team events. These regulations have been adjusted and will in future be as follows:

  • 3 Men
  • 3 Women
  • 3 Boys
  • 3 Girls

The following Team Event categories have also now been included in future tournaments.

  • 13 – 15 (All Belts)
  • 16 – 17 (All Belts)
  • 18 & up (All Belts)

Forms

  • Up to 12 (All Belts)
  • 13 – 15 (All Belts)

      • Reiki / Energy
      • 1st Aid
      • Instructor
    • President’s colours will in future only be awarded to students who received an average of 1st Place in tournaments and will not be awarded to, as in the past, the first 3 places.

      It was decided that, regarding future international tours, all Dojangs are to participate in fundraising to assist with the ever increasing travel-expenditure towards international tours. You are invited to forward any idea which you may deem worthwhile on how our Dojangs can collect our compulsory share of which amounts to R20 000.00 per annum.
      CLASS TIMES HOLIDAYS

      In future and as from June holiday, class times will be changed as follows:

      Classes running at 13:00† 13:45, 13:45† 14:30 & 14:30 to 15:30 will have a combined class at 15:30† 17:00.

      The other classes will be conducted at normal times. These time-changes are only applicable for during holidays.

      SEMINARS

      We want to present the following seminars in Nelspruit:

      Those who are interested in doing the seminars can inform me accordingly on or before, Thursday, 5 June 2008. These seminars are open to all.

      YEAR-END GALA

      The Association’s Year-End Gala will once again take place in Nelspruit on 29 November 2008 and you are requested to please note the date at this stage.

      The Gala will be preceded by the Dan Grading / check and a Lowveld Junior Tournament; however, more information will be circulated at a later stage.

2007 Dan Grading 2

On the 24th of november 2007 Wolves Academy had its 2nd & last Dan grading and Dan Check for the year.

2007 Dan Grading

Gradings

On the 17th of June 2007 Wolves Academy had its 1st Dan grading and Dan Check for the year.
The students grading for 1st Dan did very well and all the training and preparations paid of as the 9 Cho Dan Bo’s passed their grading with flying colours.

Nelspruit Dojang General Info

The Nelspruit Wolves Academy Dojang is situated in 22 De Kock St. The Dojang and waiting area is completely fenced and has electric wiring for safety, and the access to the premises is controlled . The Dojang training area is 154 m2 and the floor is completely covered with soft mat and canvas.

The Dojang is fully equipped for the best Martial Arts training and Experience.

Directions to the Dojang

From N4:

Turn left at the robot on to GENERAAL DAN PIENAAR.
Keep going until you see NELSPRUIT PRIMARY SCHOOL on your left, and turn left into SAREL CELLIERS ST.
Turn right at the first street on your right, it should be DE KOCK ST.
Keep going past the first speed bump and the WOLVES MARTIAL ARTS ACADEMY will be on your right, just before the second speedbump.

Haedong Kumdo General Info

HAE-DONG-KUM-DO - HAE mean Sea, DONG means East, KUM means Sword and DO mean Way – thus the meaning of Haedong Kumdo is translated as – The Eastern Sword Martial Art or literally translated into original Korean sword techniques. – It is the traditional Kumdo trained in to prepare for real battle and is totally different from Jukdo (bamboo sword) sports and Guhapdo, which were imported from Japan. The practitioners of Haedong Kumdo training swords as well all use real sword, (Live Blades), which weigh approximately 1,2kg.The sword techniques are not only one of the most important skills for battle, but also improve physical strength, endurance, posture and attitude while assisting one to develop a noble state of personality.
